FAQ / Questions & Answers

Rust is one of the most memory-hungry games we host, and what matters most is your map size, not just the player count. Our plans start at 6 GB, which is enough for a small squad server on a 3000–3500 map. For a 4000–4500 map and a busy community, 12–16 GB is the comfortable range. You can move up a plan at any time without losing your map.
Yes. The framework is a startup parameter — you pick vanilla, Oxide or Carbon under Startup parameters in the panel and it is installed on the next server (re)install. After that plugins are just files you drop into the plugins folder through the file manager or FTP. Carbon runs most Oxide plugins unchanged, so you can switch between them without rebuilding your setup.
Facepunch ships a monthly update on the first Thursday of the month, which forces a map wipe on every Rust server. Beyond that, you decide: wipe the map only, blueprints only, or both, whenever you want. You do it yourself in the panel — either delete the relevant save files in the file manager, or flip the regeneration switch under Startup parameters and reinstall for a fresh seed. Take a manual backup first if you want to keep the old map.
Yes. Your server is listed in the community browser with the name, description and tags you set, and players can also connect directly using your address. Every plan includes a free *.gmhst.com address, and you can point your own domain at the server instead.
We do not put an artificial cap on slots — you set the limit yourself in the server config. The real limit is your plan's RAM and CPU, so pick a plan that matches the map size and population you are aiming for.
Yes. You can run a procedural map by setting the seed and size, or load a custom map file from a URL. Both live under Startup parameters in the panel, so switching maps does not require any help from us.
You choose your location when ordering: Falkenstein (Germany), Warsaw (Poland), London (UK) or Gravelines (France). Pick the one closest to you — the shorter the distance, the lower your ping.
Yes, and it costs nothing extra. Game Swaps are included in every plan: turn the same server into another supported game in one click, and each game keeps its own saved preset so nothing is lost when you swap back. Heavier games need more memory, so which titles you can run depends on the plan you pick — hover the info icon next to Game Swaps on any plan above to see how many that plan can run.
