FAQ / Questions & Answers

Our plans start at 2 GB, which is a sensible place to begin a fresh save with a few friends. What pushes a Factorio server upwards is not really the player count but the save itself — a megabase that has been running for months, a large explored map, or a heavy mod list all want more headroom. If you are planning an overhaul mod pack or a long campaign, start higher or move up a plan when the save starts feeling heavy.
Mods are files in the server's mods folder, so you upload them through the file manager or over FTP and restart. Keep the whole list at versions that match your Factorio version, since a single mismatched mod will usually stop the server from loading. The live console tells you exactly which one is unhappy if that happens.
Everyone needs the same mods at the same versions to play together — Factorio is strict about this because the whole game is deterministic. In practice the client handles most of the work when joining a modded server, but it is still worth telling players the list up front. Agree on when you update, because a mod bump means everyone bumps.
Yes. A Factorio save is a single file, so you upload it into the saves folder through the file manager or FTP and tell the server to load it. Make sure the server is on the same game version and has the same mods, otherwise the save will refuse to load. Keep your local copy until you have seen it start cleanly.
We do not impose an artificial cap — you set the maximum in the server settings. The real ceiling is your plan's RAM and CPU together with how demanding your save has become. Factorio leans hard on single-thread performance, which is why we run Ryzen 9 hardware.
Because the factory keeps running when you are not. Hosting from your own game means everyone stops the moment you close it, whereas a dedicated server stays online 24/7 so anyone can hop in and keep the belts moving. You also get a file manager, live console, manual backups and scheduled restarts instead of managing files on your desktop.
You choose your location when ordering: Falkenstein (Germany), Warsaw (Poland), London (UK) or Gravelines (France). Pick the one closest to you — the shorter the distance, the lower your ping.
Yes, and it costs nothing extra. Game Swaps are included in every plan: turn the same server into another supported game in one click, and each game keeps its own saved preset so nothing is lost when you swap back. Heavier games need more memory, so which titles you can run depends on the plan you pick — hover the info icon next to Game Swaps on any plan above to see how many that plan can run.
