FAQ / Questions & Answers

Our plans start at 2 GB, which is a reasonable base for a few friends starting a fresh world. Go higher if you expect a larger group, a substantial mod list, or a world that will be explored widely over many in-game years — generated terrain is what accumulates. Upgrading a plan keeps your existing world intact.
Vintage Story has an active modding scene and mods install as files in the server's mods folder, which you upload through the file manager or over FTP. Keep everything on versions built for your game version, and restart from the panel afterwards. If something fails to load, the live console will name the mod.
It depends on the mod — some are server-side only, while anything that adds blocks, items or interface changes needs to be installed by players as well. The server checks what clients have and will tell them when something is missing or mismatched. Publish your mod list somewhere so new players can get set up before they try to join.
Yes. Vintage Story stores a world as a save file, so you upload it to the server through the file manager or FTP and point the server at it. Match the game version and mod list to what the world was created with, and keep your local copy until you have seen it load. Manual backups in the panel are worth taking before any big change, within the backup slots your plan includes.
We do not impose an artificial cap — the maximum is a value in the server config that you set yourself. Your plan's RAM and CPU are the real limit, and a busy world with a lot of loaded chunks asks more of both. Every player still needs to own the game to connect.
Yes. Vintage Story exposes a deep set of world configuration options — playstyle presets, climate and world settings, temporal stability and creature behaviour among them — and you set these when creating the world. Some can be adjusted afterwards through server commands in the live console, while generation settings are best decided up front.
You choose your location when ordering: Falkenstein (Germany), Warsaw (Poland), London (UK) or Gravelines (France). Pick the one closest to you — the shorter the distance, the lower your ping.
Yes, and it costs nothing extra. Game Swaps are included in every plan: turn the same server into another supported game in one click, and each game keeps its own saved preset so nothing is lost when you swap back. Heavier games need more memory, so which titles you can run depends on the plan you pick — hover the info icon next to Game Swaps on any plan above to see how many that plan can run.
